The first, to take place on February 13th, Thursday at 21h30, is entitled “Efígie | Princípios”. This project debuted in 2017 at Armazém 22 in Vila Nova de Gaia and it was based on exploration and research issues related to Extinction, Disappearance and End. In the documental and synopsis we read that “The body, builder of movement and scenic space, travels through a forest (panorama / utopian ortho) referring to a non-civilization, neutrality, nihilism and the denial of a capitalist system.” As it is also mentioned that this same body “Wanders through a primordial memory, in the possibility of manipulating time, retreat it and retrieve it. This body, which I now call passerby, is disappearing in darkness, in the abyss, in the fall, in the threat of disappearance, as well as the action (performance)”.
On the 14th, Friday, also at 21h30, it will happen the project created and premiered in 2018 at the Carlos Alberto / TNSJ Theater, “Magma | No limite da Selvajaria”. Violence emerges and persists as a keyword, marking its presence during the 8 months of the creation process. The performance consists of a series of exploratory events around objects and materials conquered during a series of residences, as well as the practice of two long walks.
In an interview with Público, Flávio Rodrigues states that: “The punk imagination is very strong here. When I was a kid I was a Porto punk kid and I wanted to get back the clothes that I wore, as well as the idea of not buying things, of recycling. The giant color map, for example, is a kind of patchwork made from leftover Christmas wrapping and oreo cookie packages. ”
To close, on the 15th, same time as the previous sessions, it will be presented the project, “rúptil | na era dos castigos incorpóreos ”. It’s a performance and it consists of a scenic / sculptural device, resulting from a series of performative actions aiming to implement / built sculptures of various materials, in common raw, primary and basal such as stones, cloths or irons. The materials were collected through walks that the author made during the year 2018 and 2019. The premiere took place first in Braga at Arte Total, beside other presentations, we highlight here the vacant space, the top floor of the CTT Post Office Palace in the heart of the city of Porto, presentation included in the DDD Festival programming. About this project, Flávio concludes that it is, in its procedural essence, nomad and collector. An ode to the beauty of chaos that is our existence.
These presentations had the support of GDA Foundation.
