I turn to the other, I extend myself in his/ her direction. I challenge myself to feel the other’s presence and absence. The communication is not linear, the language cannot be absolutely understandable.
Can we define what is an encounter? When and how does an encounter happen? Is the encounter inevitable? We experiment with procedures to meet the other, which question what is an encounter in its complexity and diversity, exploring the codes and tools we use to bring ourselves closer to one another, subverting them: does the encounter still happen? What new mechanisms of encounter can we find? What qualities of encounter result from them?
Encounter: 1. Act or effect of encounter; 2. Reunion, cluster of two or more people; 3. connection, junction, union; 4. Clash; 5. Fight, dispute; 6. Compensation; 7. Piece that makes another piece steady.
Biologist with a Ph.D. in Plant Ecophysiology, in 2009 moved to Granada (Spain) for a post-doc, and started dancing. In 2013 leaves science research and dedicates herself to creation in dance and performance, joining the collective Enclave (MadridGranada- Lisbon). Trained with teachers such as Ana Buitrago, Aitana Cordero, João Fiadeiro or Loic Touzé, and attended the FIA at C.E.M., Lisbon (2014-2015). In 2017 cofounds the collective Lisbon co-Dance. Currently collaborates with Julia Salem and Fernando Pelliccioli and Carlos Osatinsky (Berlin-Argentina).
Brazilian artist with a degree in Body Arts Communication by PUC-São Paulo. Worked with Rose Akras (Are you experience?, Aquilo que não se vê), Daniela Dini (Escamando), Gustavo Ciríaco (Onde o Horizonte se Move) and João Fiadeiro (EXISTÊNCIAreprise). Founder of collectives Núcleo de Garagem and Coletivo entre 1 e 2, presented Travèssa and Instaura_ação in Brazil, Italy, Holland and Portugal. Instaura_ação was awarded the prize New Creations Site Specific-2014, from CCSP (Brazil). In 2017 attended the FIA at C.E.M, Lisbon. Will join the new piece by Gustavo Ciríaco, Entre cães e Lobos.
