Who are we to tell you how you should feel about art?
It’s not about liking or disliking it. It’s about surviving the experience.
Except in the case of “whathappenedtomanaLúcia.” If you come out unscathed, you’re objectively wrong.
“Who the heck is mana Lúcia?” Whatever! “This meets that”? No.
“whathappenedtomanaLúcia” is a crash, not a crush.

Ângelo Castro
Ângelo Castro (he/him). I was b0rn with an 0 in 2003, in Amadora. I am an increasingly multidisciplinary and increasingly less disciplined artist, or at least I try to be. I unlearned theater for three years at ESTC and was part of the Nós/Nous’24 project. I collaborated with arti-friends such as Teatro Praga, Jorge Jácome, Vânia Rovisco, Carla Bolito, and Nuno M. Cardoso. In 2024, I presented my first creation at Rua das Gaivotas 6, “__”. I research post-internet theater and am interested in the idea of deez_appearance. Puf!!

Artists also have their favorite foods and drinks. In MENU DE ARTISTA, we ask those who visit RG6 to hold an open session about their favorite delicacy. Let’s open our mouths for a tasting!

— conversation after the show with trash (Ângelo Castro)
Series of conversations with artists at RG6. It could have been at TATE, but it will be closer at hand, in Misericórdia. Take advantage of this neighborhood gathering to exchange ideas and ask for autographs!

— Saturday, November 29
— conversation with the artist after the show, moderated by José Maria Vieira Mendes
Series of conversations without artists at Rua das Gaivotas 6. CLUBE ESPECTADOR is a project coordinated by J.M.Vieira Mendes and Maria Sequeira Mendes, in collaboration with Rua das Gaivotas 6 (RG6) and Teatro do Bairro Alto (TBA), which consists of promoting informal conversations about shows.

Which books influence artistic creation? Which books are essential for life? Each month, one book is chosen by each artist from RdG6. Books are available for consultation and sale.

RIFQA (2021) by Mohammed el-Kurd
translation by Manuel de Freitas
RIFQA (2021), an Arabic word meaning friendship, was the name of Mohammed El-Kurd’s grandmother. A survivor of the Nakba, the forced exodus of the Palestinian people in 1948, and a refugee in her own land, this resilient woman, “older than Israel,” is evoked here as a symbol of the struggle against oppression and colonialism. The author’s debut book, a beautiful example of Palestinian poetry of resistance that echoes voices such as those of Mahmoud Darwish and Ghassan Kanafani, RIFQA conveys the feelings of a people fighting for their land and memory. Preface by aja monet, American poet, performer, and activist.
