Vida Salgada is the great work of Filipe Sambado. Here, Sambado more Sambado than ever, in the voice, in the songs and in the visceral letters. This is a disc of cavalcade batteries accompanied by sad percussions. The guitars come in to form the midfield, but often end up drowning out by ripped keyboards, which fill the wings.

Sambado’s live band, The Luxury Accompaniments, has a very elucidative name, after all we are talking about some three important names of song writing in Portugal – Alek Rein, C de Croché and First Lady; not forgetting the drummer of the moment, Luís Barros.

More than ten years ago in Lisbon, Filipe Sambado took advantage of this work to take us to his origins in Alentejo and Algarve. A nostalgic record does not have to be an album of childhood, and that is what Vida Salgada shows us. Vida Salgada is an issue with the Spring Toast Records label, available on the cassette and the author’s Bandcamp.

The first part of the matinee is Jasmim, languid landscapes that unite in a sweet voice and in the rhythmic scores of a semi-caetan tropical.
