What do we think about when we think about another? About another body? How is the feeling of such an encounter constituted within us?

Exploring the body as a site of potential, process and connection takes us to the precipice of the senses, to the collapse of its borders. After all, when we touch it is not just that realm that is activated; our entire sensory field receives stimuli from those around us and the way they surround us. But what is the constituent matter of this encounter?

Sounding Bodies is both an installation and performative investigation into sound as a vehicle for intimacy between human bodies; a proposal for deep listening and contemplation.

For the creation of this public work we visited the anechoic chamber at Instituto Superior Técnico and created a database of bodily sounds, both of bodies on their own as well as together. This soundscape is both matter and vessel through which we travel together as performers and audience, questioning what we see and hear.

nervo.colectivo is a cultural association still in its early steps, having originated from an informal collective of artists; the common thread that unites this nervous mass of bodies is the interest in exploring, through performance, visual and sound art, the body and its sensorial experience as a space for intimacy and connection.
