Looks like hell, smells like heaven, tastes like purgatory, sounds like what?

(The dream that leads to an eventual actual noise that wakens the dreamer.)

João Polido
Polido is a musician and artist who lives and works in Lisbon. From a materialist approach to sound, his work is guided by questions of cultural memory, tradition, technology, and across music history and socio-politics. His music diffuses these concerns with a personal vocabulary, setting up surreal narratives for concrete spaces. Through visual and/or sound mechanisms, Polido seeks the evanescent threshold between recognition and alienation.
Polido’s work takes the form of concerts, mixes, writings, talks, listening sessions, and exhibitions for contexts such as Batalha – Centro de Cinema, ICA London, 12th Berlin Biennale, MAAT, Sismógrafo*, NTS Radio, Sonsbeek 20->24*, Ruhr Ding*, and Spirit Shop. Polido runs the embryonic record label Projecto de Vida through which he organises events, and his music has been published under labels such as Holuzam, Bus Editions, Lynn, Left Alone, and c-.
