Pedra lançada is the launch event of the book-oracle Pedra y Apocalypso by Luara Raio. The gesture of throwing implies impact and reception. It implies vibration and reverberation, also breakage, fracture, shattering, crossing. The title makes reference to the proverb of the Afro-Brazilian religion that says Exú killed a bird yesterday with a stone that he threw today. On this day, we will receive and throw stones at the crossroads between dance, word, spirituality and performance celebrating and conjuring worlds to cast spells in the spiral of time.

<3 magic – eroticism – dance – performance – word – spell <3

I propose to throw words in your ear like throwing a stone into water. The impact rips the surface and creates waves that vibrate to the shore, from the shore the waves return to center and begin to reverberate the impact off each other. Meanwhile the stone hits the bottom.

It will be a 4-hour event, with a performance-activation of Pedra y Apocalypso by Luara Raio, a performance by guest artist Luan Okun, and to close it off, some fine djsexy beats by SoundPreta. We’ll also have an open stand to sell releases by LGBTQIAP+ artists and racialized artists.

< that is, bring your zine/book/edition and exhibit for sale along with us. > More info about the stand >> email to >> prod.mpaula@gmail.com

O JEITO QUE O CORPO DÁ * DESMONTAGEM
performance do Luan Okun

Finding diferent ways to stand up, to move, and thus to move structures conditioned to the racialized and dissident fat body in the diaspora.
Activating powers by unlocking the pelvis, strengthening the base, swaying the established. What is it like to go through colonial misfortunes? What about rolling over? How does one configure failure?

To break, not only with accents and zippers, but with everything that is put as limit, as unique, as correct, as cistemic. To highlight, in a comical or tragic way, the mistakes that normativity makes on a daily basis. And how does this body get up? And when that body doesn’t get up? What if it is slow? What if it no longer walks the same way? Sharing survival technologies, starting with the movement of the ass. Passing through the whole body, including the mouth through spells cast in the form of memories stored in words.

“To dialogue with the public about the themes that permeate my experiences and have a direct connection with the artistic work.
The performance relies on the use of sensory experiences that aim to get the audience active, noticing what the smell, sound, image and “mistakes” cause in each one.”

Luan Okun, trans, non-binary, born in Ituiutaba in the interior of Minas Gerais, they began the artistic studies in 2014, studying theater at the Federal University of Uberlândia, where the artistic and performative productions began.
They use the “corpovivência” and the “encruzilhadas” as the main tool for making, understanding that the movement of a dissident body of gender, racialized and fat comes from the desire and individual strength to break with structures that condition the body by normativity and colonization.
They currently live in Lisbon, and researches methods of survival from failure, pelvic reconnection, and the recognition of the ass as political, poetic, and “mágicu”.
In 2020, contributed to the materialization of Casa T Lisboa, in that time they participated in some works, among them the individual performance project “O jeito que o Corpo dá”, performed in the theater play “Cosmos” directed by Isabél Zuaa, Nádia Iracema and Cléo Diária, and also participated in the executive production of the clips “Bruxonas”, “Hetero Curioso” and “Festinha 360” from Artist Puta da Silva.
SoundPreta’s sound research began in 2016 in Brazil, where her musical inspirations come from. Since then, the project has crossed many borders to reach the dancefloors, stages, parties and performances in cities such as Porto, Lisbon, Berlin and Ponta Delgada. Currently, SoundPreta has focused on Trap, Grime and Drill beats, but also on Brazilian Funk and electronic sounds like Miami Bass. As a producer, she also signs Making Love, a party of R&B, neo soul, Lo-fi Trap and others. It’s the party where new and old sounds make love. Soundpreta is also a response to the underrepresentation of black DJs and producers in the Portuguese scene.
Performer, dancer, choreographer and singer of sapatão funk, Luara Raio graduated in performing arts between Brazil, Portugal and France: at the University of Brasília, at Forum Dança in Lisbon and ex.e.r.ce at CCN of Montpellier-Occitanie. She was singer and songwriter of the funk group Sapabonde from 2010 to 2015, traveling through many cities in Brazil. In 2019, she created Trilogia Da Encruzilhada, a series of dances at the intersection of spirituality, imagination, and performance. Among them are raioraio lamalama, Manguba, and APOCALYPSO. Her work is rooted in a Sapatão, racialized, and anti-colonial perspective of the body that intends to activate spells and fractures in hegemonic representations of gender, race, and the body. She currently lives in Paris, where she collaborates with other artists and continues her authorial research on macumba, imaginary, incorporation and performance.
