We wanted to think about the work but did not want to work.
We prefer to do nothing, to produce nothing: to be vagabonds on the loose, to block the traffic, to step back and contemplate the breeze of thought without having to pay a fee. We wanted paradise down here.

But down here are the lands of labor. We have a program to do, with all the times counted. After all, something is required to be done. And even this show, it has to be done? What we want to know is whether work is concerned if it does. And if this little life will lead us anywhere.

The work presented itself as condition and we wanted to look it in the eyes. “I do not want to live anymore,” he told us; he begged us for his death. Not being able to shoot him, we had to play with him. We introduced it and we tricked it.

Between the “to do” and the “do not do it” is a recreation for adults where we played the reporter interviews, the colloquiums, the afternoon program, the sketches, the Brazilian funk, we play to the mothers, the princesses and the babies who have come to this quiet and complex abyss where we meet and find that the question “what to do?” may reveal the desire to be useless.

The auĂ©Ă©Ă©u company was founded on May 13, 2014 and consists of a group of nine actors – born between 1982 and 1993 – graduated in 2014 by the School of Theater and Cinema (ESTC). The group, whose origins are diverse (Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, PortimĂŁo, LousĂŁ), aims to structure a collective program of theatrical creation in a way to develop a dramaturgy of own authorship based on the dialogue between thinkers and creators from various branches of the in the intersection of artistic languages and the appropriation of non-artistic languages, and in the crossdisciplinarity of the background of each member of the company and of those who support it (areas such as music, psychology, dance, plastic arts, philosophy, anthropology, history, cinema, literature, pedagogy, botany, mechanics and theater). This company intends to think about creation in a collective, in which the decision places are reorganized and where the difference is valued. It also seeks to draw up territories of encounter through what can be called the “sensible body,” a body that feels and thinks as it writes; conscious of this scenic game, uses the real within fiction and fiction within the real.

After the final exercise of the degree at the ESTC, titled Falta Tinta Vermelha, the group decided to continue its work, presenting this show in a professional context, this time at the Comuna Theater and Research, in 2015. In the following years, the group presented at Rua Gaivotas 6, Comuna Theater and Research, Taborda Theater, National Theater D. Maria II (Cycle Newborns’16), at Gerador Trampolim and at the Municipal Theater SĂĄ da Bandeira in SantarĂ©m, the play “Tradition”. It began in 2016 with the Neutral Space dance group, a creation from the Iliad by Homer, which gave rise to the first part of the “9 Years Later” trilogy, presented at Comuna Theater and Research. The second part, already without the collaboration of Neutral Space, was presented at Rua das Gaivotas 6 and at Teatro IbĂ©rico in 2017. Having obtained recognition by the GDA Foundation, this show got from the institution financial support to tour during the first half of 2018.
