Sara & André are a duo of visual artists who are particularly renowned in the fields of appropriation and institutional criticism, as well as, more recently, curation. Their extensive work over a joint career spanning some 20 years includes participation in 36 solo exhibitions and projects, 174 group exhibitions, 14 curatorial projects, 10 artistic residency programs, and 47 talks, guided tours, and public presentations. In terms of publishing, which is also an intrinsic part of their practice, they have produced 13 monographs, 54 exhibition catalogs, 15 contributions to books by other authors, and 32 other contributions to editorial projects of various kinds, both in the form of texts and images. They have also been mentioned in at least 213 articles in the press (print or online), have been interviewed 21 times for different publications and platforms, and have appeared on 15 occasions on various radio and television programs. They are represented in several art collections, of which at least 26 notable private collections and 12 public or corporate collections are worth mentioning. They work mainly in Lisbon, where they live, as well as in several other cities, mostly Portuguese but also Spanish. However, they have had the opportunity to publicly present their work in 11 countries on 4 continents, all of them on the same planet.
