After the maximalism of Lorenzo Senni and his deconstructed trance, the 32nd session of this cycle returns to the base, Rua das Gaivotas 6, for a three-part performance, specially conceived for this context. Doroteia + Hocus + Tiago Biscaia. Starting at the end, Tiago Biscaia is a musician and designer who explores noise and industrial sounds, improvising from physicality as an extension of his performances. These ideas take dissonant form through Biscaia’s processing of feedback, high-pitched drones, bass, harsh noises and distortion. Doroteia is the new solo project by Elisa Guerra, lead singer and guitarist of bbb hairdryer, a queercore quartet that has toured the country with the excellent A Single Mother / A Single Woman / An Only Child, released at the end of 2024. As Doroteia, Elisa sets out to explore sound and physical space through feedback and punishing harsh noise. João Almeida, here with his Hocus project, is increasingly one of the key names in this new generation of Portuguese jazz musicians. His work focuses on exploring the possibilities of the trumpet as a sound source. Through live analogue processing, the musician constructs – and destroys – abrasive landscapes and textures, in an immersive kind of controlled chaos.

Colectivo Casa Amarela (CCA) and Rua das Gaivotas 6 started a partnership in 2021 that proposes a curatorial occupation of music. The formula is simple: every two months, CCA will showcase a sound artist and their latest work.

The focus is on presenting the best of what is produced and heard on the electronic music and sound art scene, opening up space for the dissemination of Portuguese and international experimental music.

The JEJUM concerts have already promoted premieres, unusual collaborations, unexpected twists and double performances.

The main stage at Rua das Gaivotas 6 whets the appetite and leaves listeners hungry.

By the time they’re hungry. Preferably fasting.

Doroteia
Doroteia is the new analogue noise project by Elisabete Guerra, a waitress and member of bbb hairdryer, in which she sets out to explore sound and physical space through harsh performances and inflicting feedback
HOCUS
João Almeida (1997) is a Portuguese trumpeter, improviser and composer based in Lisbon, Portugal. Tiago Biscaia
Noise and industrial sounds are at the forefront of Tiago Biscaia’s live performances. Using the venue as an extension of his performance, the Lisbon-based artist seeks improvisation and physicality, both presented and absorbed. These ideas take shape in a dissonant form through Biscaia’s processing of feedback, high-pitched drones, bass, harsh noise, and distortion.
