JEJUM#24 — Alma Penada
Mariana Sendim’s musical identity, copo d’água, is all about the sounds of everyday life, birds and things that remain unsaid. This is what she explores in her first album “asa”, released in August, through a drenched electric guitar and voice and ambience recordings.
As for alga, a pseudonym representing the sound work of cláudia simões, it’s all about wide spaces available for listening to music from a performative and emotive perspective, a sensory and ethereal journey about origin and perishing, about resilience. In May, they also released the demo version of “(a outra margem)”, the first testimony of a future project.
Together for the first time, they present Alma Penada, a sound performance that floats between spectres, over a crackling aqueous matter, inviting the listener to enjoy the journey and hover as if in an apparition or dream.
The Casa Amarela (Yellow House) Collective (CCA) and Rua das Gaivotas 6 started a partnership in 2020 that proposed a curatorial occupation of music, whose periodicity would be monthly. The formula is simple: one Saturday a month, CCA will showcase a sound artist and their latest works.
The focus is to present the best of what is produced and what is heard in the electronic music and sound art panorama, opening space for the dissemination of the portuguese experimental music scene.
The JEJUM (Fasting) concerts have already promoted premieres, unusual collaborations, unexpected twists, and double performances.
The main stage at Rua das Gaivotas 6 whets the appetite and makes listeners hungry.
Around hunger time. Preferably fasting.
