The collaborative project of Rui Andrade & Afonso Ferreira encapsulates a full-blown vi- sion of electronic music, one that feels both vulnerable and overwhelming, nebulous, yet assured. Armed with razor-sharp synthesizers and angelic auto-tuned vocals, HRNS’ re- corded work expresses a yearning for true intimacy and closeness in the age of virtual shallowness. “Monuments” EP, released May 9th on Eastern Nurseries, sees the duo step back from the glimmering azure strokes of their previous work and embrace an almost operatic yet deeply flawed approach. Initially composed as a sketchbook for a performan- ce that never was, “Monuments” exists in this liminal rift of ideas; a memorial of deeply evocative vignettes and disruptive time expectations, none of them quite fully developed but subtly assuming their roles in a future constellation.

The Casa Amarela (Yellow House) Collective (CCA) and Rua das Gaivotas 6 started a partnership in 2020 that proposed a curatorial occupation of music, whose periodicity would be monthly. The formula is simple: one Saturday a month, CCA will showcase a sound artist and their latest works.

The focus is to present the best of what is produced and what is heard in the electronic music and sound art panorama, opening space for the dissemination of the portuguese experimental music scene.

The JEJUM (Fasting) concerts have already promoted premieres, unusual collaborations, unexpected twists, and double performances.

The main stage at Rua das Gaivotas 6 whets the appetite and makes listeners hungry.

Around hunger time. Preferably fasting.
