JEJUM#22 — Fashion Eternal
How you’re feeling now, 2023
Fashion Eternal seek to generate a hyperreal universe through the reappropriation of sonic material that runs through virtually every medium of musical consumption. Permeated by the effects of contemporary mass media culture, in a musical approach that reflects this varied source, they use musical languages as distinct as pop, hip-hop, jazz, ambient and noise, which intends to reflect this flux and place in confrontation with the traditionality of the most popular musical forms and the progressive exploration of new approaches and sonorities of experimental music – an exploration of the structures and melodies of pop music clashing with a constantly renewable unpredictability of improvisation works as a disruption to expectation and, as such, an alternative to the addictive stimuli to which an audience is subjected. There is also a tacit but inexorable social effect here – conceiving the practices of free improvisation and noise as tools of socio-political disalienation and rupture that can help lead to a comprehensive, non-segmented and, essentially, anti-discriminatory society.

The Casa Amarela (Yellow House) Collective (CCA) and Rua das Gaivotas 6 started a partnership in 2020 that proposed a curatorial occupation of music, whose periodicity would be monthly. The formula is simple: one Saturday a month, CCA will showcase a sound artist and their latest works.
The focus is to present the best of what is produced and what is heard in the electronic music and sound art panorama, opening space for the dissemination of the portuguese experimental music scene.
The JEJUM (Fasting) concerts have already promoted premieres, unusual collaborations, unexpected twists, and double performances.
The main stage at Rua das Gaivotas 6 whets the appetite and makes listeners hungry.
Around hunger time. Preferably fasting.
