Hailing from Denmark’s ever-fertile electronic and experimental underground scene, Vanessa Amara rose to prominence in 2013 with her first release on Posh Isolation. The limited edition cassette Both of Us brought together a mix of contemporary classical electronica and drones, using church organs and sinister synthesizers. Composed of Birk Gjerlufsen Nielsen and Victor Kjellerup Juhl, the experimental duo remained discreet, presenting their second release, You’re Welcome Here, in 2016. This time, they used a range of instruments to construct the album, arranging cellos, violins, and trombones alongside organs. The release of the double cassette Like All Mornings came the following year and featured Sebastián Santillana, while the duo moved towards minimalism using only piano loops and feedback. That year, they also debuted their live show at Koncertkirken in Copenhagen. The duo returned to Posh Isolation in 2018 for their fourth full-length album, Manos. Since then, they have released two more albums before a radical change of direction in 2022 with Fonetica Amara, an adventurous and uncompromising addition to the body of work that is Vanessa Amara. Now focused on sampling and deconstructed vaporwave, Café Life, their latest album, has the honor of being the last album released by Posh Isolation before its closure in February 2025.
Colectivo Casa Amarela (CCA) and Rua das Gaivotas 6 began a partnership in 2021 that proposes a curatorial occupation of music. The formula is simple: every month, CCA introduces a sound artist and their latest work.
The focus is on presenting the best of what is produced and heard in the electronic music and sound art scene, opening up space for the dissemination of Portuguese and international experimental music.
The concerts at JEJUM have already promoted premieres, unusual collaborations, unexpected twists, and double performances.
On the main stage at Rua das Gaivotas 6, appetites are whetted and listeners are left hungry.
Around the hour of hunger. Preferably on an empty stomach.
