ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES is a curatorial project in which SillySeason invites six emerging artists to confront the idea of legacy. For ten days, from the fields of cinema, dance, performance and theater, will inhabit Rua das Gaivotas 6, to build six artistic objects. The meeting of a generation to emerge in the contemporary cultural scene – offering them a space, visibility and conditions that contribute to their creative process – aims to promote a new thinking that gives shape and representation to different languages. The questioning about a legacy – the one that remains in us and that is not chosen, or what we decide that represent us – is a crucial reason to speculate about the structural forms that condition us. Wishing to refuse the usual lack of support that plagues artists in the beginning of their journeys, it will be offered symbolic monetary and logistical support to all artists involved. ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES is then an extended show made up of several places of speech that are quick to reflect upon and sign up for an increasingly faster tomorrow.
SillySeason is a collective of artists (Cátia Tomé, Ivo Saraiva e Silva and Ricardo Teixeira) that, since 2012, allows itself to re-think about theater and performing arts, in a constant search for new creative models. They try to contribute to the production and deepening of new dramaturgies, in a constant reflection about what is theater or what can it be. They promote the construction of objects that challenge the usual logical configuration for a structure that speculates the multifaceted spectacle. Their work is based mainly on the notion of crisis, demystifying it, and proposing new dimensions of history and politics, trying to solidify an increasingly urgent discourse about the future. Along its path, SillySeason have been working through collaboration and in a network, getting in touch with different artists from different areas, with different structures and different institutions.
The Collective SillySeason is a structure financed by the General Directorate of Arts – Portuguese Republic.
