Adramalech’s Monologue is one of Novarina’s oldest of Novarina, a core text of his work and widely staged in several countries. Novarina’s work, it should be said, is never a soliloquy, and under the title of monologue hides a false premise: it is an actor on stage, but an actor who is a prism – a body inhabited by voices and languages, not nerves and blood, as the author reminds us.

A multiple body, a body without a face, a body that dismembers.

Renata Portas is director and artistic director of Público Reservado,
a theater company founded in 2013.
She was born in 1976, in São Paulo, Brazil. She works and lives in Porto.
In 2003, she finished the course in Acting at Balleteatro – Escola Profissional and attended the Master in Directing at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema.
Post-graduation in Contemporary Art, at Escola Superior Artística do Porto (2015-16). She made her professional debut as Jean-Pierre Sarrazac’s assistant director, in the show “Cantiga para JÁ”, in 2003 (Coimbra Capital da Cultura). She has directed plays and texts by authors such as Valère Novarina, Heiner Müller, Euripides, Jean-Luc Lagarce, Pedro Eiras, Juan Mayorga, Franz Kafka, Samuel Beckett, Peter Handke, Jean Anouilh, among others.
Of her dramatic texts, the following stand out: “Interlude” and “Câmara-Inferno” (Companhia das Ilhas), “Finisterra” (TNSJ editions), “A Boca de Telémaco é a Fortuna da Casa” (unedited) and “Buraco Negro Ou Vórtice Amoroso Em Forma de Espinho” (publication Cadernos da Público Reservado – 2018/19).
