The weight of this failure accelerates my mass towards success. Izabel Nejur brings in her new work desires and pleasures as a possible score of narratives that involve the imaginary of force.

The defence of this artistic object occurs through the resolution of an equation invented by the interpreter. GxF=P (GIGANTESCAxForce=Pleasure). In the face of this calculation resolved on stage, concepts of physics, the body and movement are invoked to achieve jouissance through acceleration.

This work, GIGANTESCA, is the translation-screened of launching the challenge on the physicality found in scores before the perspectives of interest and delight.  In this exercise, Izabel Nejur places herself at the centre of the stage, in her first solo.  Wet, with her enormous ponytail, she raises, elevates, resists, perspires, agitates and expurgates her relations with the force and the giving up of the mass.

IZABEL NEJUR

Izabel Nejur travels from Brazil to Portugal in 2018. Performer, she uses her fluidity as the main tool in her multidisciplinarity. The restlessness is the engine to create, intuition and wisdom to innovate. She has done works in the fields of cinema, dance, performance, writing writing and also DIY video art. She has a BA in Journalism in Journalism and post-graduate studies in film and dance. As a creator she was awarded her first solo in 2012 “o que cai de mim”, already in Lisbon she did FOR (Formação Olga Roriz), created Experiences / possibilities of creation with other women artists (Claudia Canarin, Cristina Vizir Vizir, Inês Gomes, Marta Rijo and Vitória Grilo), choreographer and in the music videos “Amazon” and “Lisbon Story” also also awarded the Funarte RespiArte prize, video art director of video art for the artist Amanda Silva, partner in videos with artist Thiago Goms among others. Currently researching and experimenting with GIGANTESCA, her new creation that was premiered at Queer Code Festival do Barreiro Barreiro Queer Code Festival (May 2022) and is a creative performer in the project Palácio do Grilo with artistic direction by Era Jaja Rolim.

SPECTATOR’S CLUB — discussion after the performance

The SPECTATOR’S CLUB is a project coordinated by J.M.Vieira Mendes and Maria Sequeira Mendes, with the collaboration of Rua das Gaivotas 6 and Teatro do Bairro Alto, and consists in promoting informal conversations about performances.
