Festival Silêncio is a transdisciplinary and participatory festival that celebrates the word as a vehicle of knowledge and as an act of creation and that takes place in the inhabited space of Cais do Sodré, in the axis of Rua de São Paulo – Rua da Boavista.
In 2017, Festival Silêncio takes place between the 28th September and the 1st October, to once again present to the public a program in which everyone has a say. In the street, in the façades, shop windows, galleries, cafes, clubs, in the garden, in the square, Cais do Sodré is once again the stage of conferences, cinema, concerts, conversations, theater, exhibitions and workshops.

Invitation for a nihilist experience. If not, see: An imaginary place, fruit of an indefinition, habited by the most extraordinary figures. All of them carry with them a baggage, their faithful companion for endless adventures, something that comes from themselves: a book, a necklace, a mask, a history, a past…
You don’t know anything, you can’t see the concept, there’s no light that can show them the way. They are driven by an irresistible desire to find themselves, or to a further response.
Lightning strikes them in the chest. They light up. They go out into the world. Modified by the singular experience of which they were the arrow and the target. The darkness sets in. The time travelers return home… The cycle is complete and the play ends… for today. We’ll see tomorrow.

Margarida Mestre

Figuring a group of people whose mouths open to sing. Figuring that come out of those mouths orchestra of words, pieces of sentences, beings that travel in the space like images and live in our ears and mind in a dance of mutiple meanings, excitings, mysterious, provocative…
Figuring also that we can hear distant voices, from those who couldn’t come, singing smooth sentences that hold these spoken and flying beings left by other voices…
This is the proposal of Margarida Mestre, project’s coordinator: a recital for voices, acoustic instrument and taped words. Na intergerational proposal with the participation of everyone, that convert the written words of Maria Gabriela Llansol in spoken and heard words.

ROCHEDO
Rita Roberto & Pedro Ferreira
OCTOBER 1 2017 | SUNDAY | 4PM
FREE ENTRANCE | [DUR: 30-40MIN]
Rochedo is a new creation of Rita Roberto and Pedro Ferreira, a dialogue with Maria Gabriela Llansol, especially thought for this edition of the festival. An obscured room where there is a surface, and a bulging volume; there is movement and voices.
Inexplicable rock
spreads without event, exposed to the sun,
and quivers.
Surrounded mantle, here and there
murmurs and hisses.
