Os Filhos de Lumière’s project “No País do Cinema”, returns in January with a special session. In partnership with Rua das Gaivotas 6 andPólo Cultural Gaivotas | Boavista, they present a double session with two films from Miloš Forman and João Nicolau. To end the night a concert from the band Ninaz.

A factory manager in rural Czechoslovakia bargains with the army to send men to the area, to boost the morale of his young female workers, deprived of male company since the local boys have been conscripted. The army sends reservists, mostly married middle-aged men – and the local beauty Andula, spurns those bold enough to try to win her, for the jazz pianist, newly come from Prague to perform.

Rita has it all. She is 15 years old and the summer is ahead of her. She floods the balcony floor and splashes about while soaking up the mighty sun. She has an ex-future boyfriend and an ever-present best friend. She braids her hair and goes to parties.
Naturally, from Portugal to the South Pacific, this whole fortress gently falls apart when Rita visits the exhibition put on by a new neighbour in the local community center.
