MERCI is a video installation performance composed of three films (M#1, M#2 and M#3), shot on iPhone. Both a referential and abstract work, it moves from events and specific experiences that trigger the fictional construction. The context is that of a trip around Europe and a love story between two characters: the author and X. X will always be the spectator himself. Through the construction of a labyrinthic narrative where reality, dreams and fiction get mixed up, M#1 corresponds to the experience of the love story. M#2 is a mourning. M#3 is a satire, a scenario of a kind of a filmed diary, addressed to X. By playing with antitheses as documentation and invention, fact and fiction, reality and farce, MERCI builds up a territory which is open to communication, where the spectator is also the ‘protagonist’.
MERCI is the first part of a diptych. The second part “MERCI the Premiere” will be presented in Temps d’Images Lisboa in 2017 – 14º Festival de artes em movimento
