Entropy sits on the geography of unpredictable human relations. It questions the acquired behaviours in the process of bodies’ interaction in order to explore the action that didn’t take place, the conflict, the power of what could have been.

Entropy begins in the pre-existent ways and practices to explore the gaps and possibilities that arise from them, creating another body-place from a dissection that operates and reinvents our rational logic.

Entropy is a disruption of social patterns that outline our boundaries, through the deconstruction of codes and acts imprinted on ourselves. In a tension that doesn’t separate photography and performance, it pressures the limits of communication by means of semiotic disarticulations in constant change.

CAROLINA COUTO

Carolina Couto was born in 1996, in Torres Novas, Portugal.
Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, in Communication Design.

In parallel to her studies, Couto co-founded Colectivo249, arising from the desire to occupy and provoke artistic germination, in inhospitable grounds. Later on, urged to find new directions for image and language, she embarks on another path and attends a Photography course at AR.CO.

Her work does not divide photography and performance. It uses the tension between both to question the codes and procedures acquired in the process of interaction between human beings. It looks for other ways of communicating, individually and collectively.
