Ébrio (Drunkenness) is a body. “Silent indifferent”, as Botto says. Not much to say. Ébrio is in this room and will make himself known. “Febrile, almost crazy” in his alienated state, with no memory of the conventions he lost.
Ébrio departs from the concept of drunkenness proposed by Botto in a different reading of being drunk. Ébrio is a proposal of stunning reality, where gender and body constraints have been intoxicated, so that they can no longer manifest themselves.
Ébrio is a body. Ébrio uses the body and its movement to question pre-established conventions and proposes a drunken state in which those conventions have lost their importance. On the scene are three questioning bodies that are questionable. Who want to lose inheritance of meanings attributed to their bodies.
These three figures use a space device that dilutes the roles of audience and performer.
In 2017 finished his degree in Painting at Faculdade de Belas Artes of Universidade de Lisboa, where he had the opportunity to experience the construction of a project that proposes the dialogue between plastic arts and performance. In this year he also started his master’s degree in Theater, specializing in Performative Arts, at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Lisbon. In 2019 took part of the project, Longos dias de Verão, within the framework of “Ciclo Shakespeare” at Fábrica das Artes, CCB. In 2019 he also presented the first performance of his making named Onanismos. The performance was presented at Teatro do Silêncio, Lisbon, within the framework of the artistic residency “Sala de Ensaio”. Onanismos is based on a research about homoerotic poetry in the Portuguese scenario and the construction of what we can call “Portuguese closet”.
