Conhecida como Escola das Gaivotas, por ter sido uma escola primária durante cerca de 50 anos, o antigo Palácio Alarcão recebe agora novos usos. Nos andares principais da antiga escola instalou-se o Pólo das Gaivotas, e o Teatro Praga ocupou o número 6 do palácio, tornando-se na Rua das Gaivotas 6, lugar de apresentações de espectáculos de artes performativas, artes visuais, conferências, literatura, cinema e workshops. A intenção da recuperação foi criar um espaço de continuidade com o edifício onde se insere, reflectindo uma grande vontade de adaptação, improviso e interacção com a cidade.

Known by the name Escola das Gaivotas, for having been a primary school for some 50 years, the former Palácio Alarcão now serves new purposes. The main floors of the former school building are now occupied by the Gaivotas Creative Hub, and the Teatro Praga has installed itself in the palace building with the street number 6, taking on the name Rua das Gaivotas 6, a venue for visual art shows, performance art, conferences, literature, cinema and workshops. The aim of the remodelling project was to create a space of continuity with the building it is part of, reflecting an overriding desire for adaptation, improvisation and interaction with the city.
