You cross the water’s path, put sandbags or set a wall before it, but whatever you do, water finds a crack, and keeps flowing freely. In its journey, it faces many obstacles, maybe even gets all muddy. However, in this country, “water killings” constantly take place.

This piece is the story of those who make the journey of water their own travel and wander along all kinds of water. A suitcase is opened, and things that come out will surely find their own cracks.

You’re not a fish after all is dedicated to all those who have been killed in Turkey due to their opinions, as Hrant Dink, an Armenian journalist.

/ about CUMPLICIDADES – Lisbon International Contemporary Dance Festival

This year’s edition is framed under the subtitle Moving Latitudes, This describes our main concern of fostering a program oriented to processes that are driven by complicity. On the one hand, processes that are focused on the relationship of choreographers with their artistic research time. On the other hand, processes related to the strategic dimensions of artistic touring and the connection with production networks in the Mediterranean region and the Middle East. Significantly, the latest intensify the sense of community of contemporary dance in its macroscopic scope.

The program includes performances, workshops, exhibitions, lectures and an international conference. These will be the means through which the authors will expound their methods, reflections and concerns, as well as communicate the paradigms and theories that underlie their work. Thus, we enhance the prospects of furthering touring and the visibility of Portuguese choreographers’ work, and of expanding their presence internationally, sharing experiences and establishing contacts with professionals from Spain, Germany, France, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey.

Festival Cumplicidades was recently awarded with the EFFE (Europe for Festivals Festivals For Europe) label.
